Invoicing built for how genealogists actually work.

From research hours to document retrieval fees — every line item, automatically populated and ready to send.

Custom Business Branding

Your business name, contact information, and rates appear on every invoice. Your clients see a polished, professional document — not a generic template.

Auto-Populated Line Items

Time tracking entries flow directly into invoice line items — hours, rate, and description already filled in. Add expense line items manually in seconds.

Payment Instructions

Clients receive a link to view the invoice — no account required. You set out the payment methods and terms your practice already uses. Card acceptance is not built in yet.

Invoice Status Tracking

Every invoice moves through a clear lifecycle: Draft → Sent → Paid (or Overdue). Filter your invoice list by status tab, and search by invoice number or client name. Your stats overview always shows total outstanding, all-time paid total, overdue count, and draft count.

Frequently Asked

Yes, on the Pro plan. Build a branded invoice, add line items for research hours, expenses and retainer fees, then email your client a link to view it. Print / PDF from your browser gives you a copy for your records. You set out the payment methods your practice already uses — card acceptance is not built in.
No. Card acceptance is not built into AncestorOS. You send your client a link to the invoice, and it shows the payment instructions you have configured — PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, bank transfer or check, or a link of your own. The client pays you through that service and you mark the invoice paid. Stripe is used only for AncestorOS subscription billing.
You decide. AncestorOS presents the payment instructions you configure — for example bank transfer details or a payment handle — on the invoice your client views. Card acceptance is not built into AncestorOS.
You can resend the invoice email from the invoice page, which sends your client the same invoice link again. There are no automatic reminders or overdue nudges — chasing is something you choose to do, and invoices are marked paid by you.
Stripe is the payment processor AncestorOS uses for its own subscription billing — your Hobbyist or Pro plan. It is one of the world's leading processors, transactions are encrypted and PCI-DSS compliant, and AncestorOS never stores card numbers. Stripe is not used for your client invoices; card acceptance for client payments is not built into AncestorOS.
No. Invoicing is part of the Pro plan at $40/month, which includes the full professional genealogy business toolkit.
You can add your business name, address, and payment terms. Custom logo upload and color theming are on the near-term roadmap. The default template is clean, professional, and branded to you.
