Private by default

Your tree is yours alone. Nothing is shared to a public network. No crowdsourcing your family data to strangers. AncestorOS never uses your data to "suggest hints" from other users' private records.

Your tree is private
Visible only to you unless you explicitly share it

Three steps to a living family tree

Start with yourself and grow at your own pace. There is no right order, no required fields, and no deadline.

1

Add the first person — yourself

Create your own profile with your name, birth date, and birthplace. This becomes the root of your tree. You can always add more detail later.

2

Add parents and grandparents

Work backwards one generation at a time. Add names, dates, and places as you know them. Leave unknowns blank — you can fill them in later as you research.

3

Extend to cousins, aunts, uncles — grow at your own pace

Branches expand naturally. Add siblings, their spouses, their children. The tree grows with you over months and years of research.
